Banden wetenswaardigheden

1. Coderingen op Motorbanden

Wat betekenen de coderingen op motorbanden? Bijvoorbeeld: 180/55ZR17 (73W)

180 = breedte in mm
55 = % van de breedte dat de band hoog is (dus 0,55 x 180 = 99mm)
Z = snelheid meer dan 240km/uur
R = bouw v.d. band (R = radiaalband)
17 = diameter van het velg waarvoor de band gemaakt is in inches
73 = draagindex (zie tabel hieronder)
W = snelheidsindex door leverancier gekozen naar advies ETRO

2. Snelheidsindex

Snelheidsindex geeft aan de maximale snelheid van de band.
Snelheidsindex heeft niets te maken met de snelheid waarmee u zich met de auto verplaatst. Snelheidsindex van de band moet minimaal aan de topsnelheid van de auto voldoen.
